The Q&A on this Product
QUESTION: Hello,
I have a 1996 Silverado with a 1/4 tank of gas I need to remove because the fuel pump is out. Will your product work to remove the fuel?
ANSWER: Thank you for your inquiry.....for a siphon pump to work one important thing is necessary.....when you submerge the pump in any liquie it is most important for the pump to be SUBMERGED AT ALL TIMES while you are shaking it up and down.....
1/4 tank should allow you to shake the siphon up and down vigorously and rapidly without it coming out of the liquid....and, pls remember....
you must shake, and CONTINUE to shake the pump until the gas goes up and over the top of the hose and starts a flow downward....it will then flow until the liquid is all gone or you pull the pump out to stop it....
Hope this helps....!
QUESTION: I'd like to use this product to empty hot tubs with nobody in attendance. In other words set it up and leave it until the tub is empty. Is the copper end heavy enough to hold that end of the siphon at the bottom of the hot tub? If not do you sell an attachment for this purpose.
ANSWER: We do sell an attachment to attach your garden hose to the end of the 6'tubing which you will probably need to have the tubing long enough for the copper siphon to be at the bottom of the tank and the hose to go over the top and down below the bottom of the tank you want emptied. (Garden Hose Attachment-$1.25) For best results you need to tie a heavy object (pipe, rock, etc) onto the copper siphon to sink it to the bottom of the hot tub and keep it there until emptied. It is a favorite with hot tub users because it empties it all the way. Thanks for your inquiry. Regards, Dick Enna- Simple Siphon Plus
QUESTION: I need a much longer hose. The six foot hose is too short. I really would like to buy this product but I need a hose at least 10 feet long.
ANSWER: Thank you for your inquiry.....you can do two things.....the Simple Siphon comes in a 6 foot length....and, you can connect an additional length to this hose with a garden hose connector......we have them if you care to take a look at our website.....wwww.simplesiphon.com......or,
You can go to Home Depot for example and find additional hose similar to the 6 foot hose that comes with the Simple Siphon and add whatever length you desire to it.....
And, for your information....the Simple Siphon is an excellent tool especially for what you are using it for.....powersport racers use different fuel than regular as we understand, and the Simple Siphon is a excellent tool to use when fueling etc....for another example: dragsters have to provide a sample of its fuel prior to a race and the simple siphon does the job for them Fast and Easy.....
Thank you again for inquiry and let us know if we can be of further help down the line.....regards,
QUESTION: Years ago they made a device which was shaped like a spring that you could force down inside the neck of the gas tank to prevent sliding a hose into the tank to steal the gas. My vechile is a 1996 Dodge Caravan, do you know if such a device is still available? thanks in advance for your help, Gary
ANSWER: Sorry Gary, we really know nothing of this spring device. They are today making it very difficult for anyone to get anything down gas tanks placing a screen gadget prior to a hose entering into the gas tank (although with some jerryrigging one could remove this with 'lots of work' !
Anyway Gary, thank you for your inquiry....you might want to take a look at our web site.....wwww.simplesiphon.com to learn more about our products....

QUESTION: I,am wanting to siphon gas out of my boats fuel tank to see if it needs repairs or replacement, and not sure if theres an opening accessible to use this or if i will need a longer hose to get it down the fuel line to the tank. What size hose is best for gasoline transfers?
ANSWER: First of all you can extend the length of the hose by adding a garden hose connector onto your existing hose......and,
as you probably know the end of the hose must be below the liquid before any siphon will work....depending on your boat and where the tank is located determines where the bottom of the tank is and make sure when siphoning that the end of the hose can get beneath the bottom of the tank in order to get all the fuel out.....
For example, if you take a 5 gal fuel can, submerge a Simple Siphon and shake rapidly and continuously the fuel or liquid will pump up and go over the top of the hose.....and will then begin to flow.....it will flow until the can is empty or pull it out to stop it....
Hope this helps you get the job done.....let us know if we can be of further help.....sincerely, Dick Enna, SIMPLE SIPHON PLUS
QUESTION: Which side of the simple siphon do I put into the tank that i am draining, the copper side or the plain plastic side?
ANSWER: Thank you for your inquiry ! When siphoning any liquid you insert the copper pump end into the liquid and submerge it....you will then shake it up and down vigorously (it always has to be submerged while shaking it) and most important is to keep shaking (pump has a marble and a spring inside) the marble up and down until the liquid goes up and over the top of the hose.....
Once it goes over the top it will continue to flow continuously until the liquid (for example in a five gallon fuel can) is emptied or pull the pump out to stop it.....
Hope this answers your question....if additional questions pls contact us and we will get the answer to you immediately !

QUESTION: I have a '94 Ford Ranger and have accidentally dropped the polyethylene hose into the tank in a vain attempt to siphon gasoline. Is it safe to operate the vehicle with the hose inside the tank? Will this hose corrode over time? Thanks!
ANSWER: Sorry about that! The siphon will not work in any newer vehicles that have the anti-siphoning device built in. It should not cause a problem in your tank, other than noise, because it is non static-non sparking made of copper, stainless steel and marble. It probably will not corrode as copper usually does not corrude except by salt water or some chemicals. Let me know if I can help you further. Regards, Dick Enna, Simple Siphon Plus
QUESTION: Can this hose take gas out of trucks and cars
ANSWER: Yes for older cars and trucks (some newer ones also) but most of the newer tanks have anti siphon devices built into them.
QUESTION: Is this hose made to take gas out of cars and trucks,If not do you know where I could get a siphone hose to do siphone gas out of my trucks.
ANSWER: The Simple Siphon will siphon any car or truck that does not have an anti-siphoning device built in. Most of your older cars or trucks are ok. Newer models mostly have anti siphoning devices. Thanks for your inquiry. Dick Enna--Simple Siphon plus
QUESTION: Would I be able to attach Simple Siphon's hose to a longer hose in order to drain the liquid out at a distance further than 6 feet?
Teresa Volz
ANSWER: Teresa.....no problem....for further distance just add a garden hose to your 6'tube or hose with a garden hose connector.....we sell them from our website for $1.25 ea....you can get them at Home Depot for example....just make sure the hose is on a slant downward for the siphon to operate correctly...and,
for your information....if you want to get liquid from a hot tub, pool, stock tank, etc.....you can tape three or more hoses together to really get the fluid to flow Fast ! Hope this helps....and, if you put about two inches of the simple siphon tube in a cup of warm water for a short time....it becomes soft and makes it easy to get the connector onto the hose .....!
